Joe Kelly (M. Ch., Orth. F.R.C.S.I.)

The Late Joe KellyAs President and on behalf of the committee and members of the Society I would like to express our deepest condolences to the family of Joe Kelly who passed away this week. Joe and Angela Kelly have been stalwarts of GAHS over the last number of decades. Such was their enthusiasm for history one could meet them at events unrelated to GAHS up and down the country. It wJoe Kelly (M. Ch., Orth. F.R.C.S.I.)as only last Saturday I met both of them in Athlone at the Federation of Local History Societies AGM. Both Joe and Angela made many valuable contributions to our meetings. Joe was a great historian with particular interest in historian on the history of the O’Kellys of Hy Many (Ui Maine) and was a long term council member of the Kelly Clans. He will be sadly missed by one and all at GAHS.

Joe Kelly will be reposing at home, Maree Road, Oranmore on Thursday, 30th May, from 4pm to 8pm. Requiem Mass on Friday, 31st May at 1pm at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Oranmore, Co. Galway. Funeral after Mass to Renville cemetery, Oranmore. Family flowers only and donations in lieu to the Simon Community please if desired.
